Our Story

Luna Silk Owner and CEO, Sonya Miller, loves what she does. She is extremely passionate about hairdressing, as both an artist and a business woman.
At the age of 3, Sonya told her mother she wanted to be a "beautician" and an "artist" when she grows up. Although she has no memory of this conversation, she does feel as if she left the womb with this mission in mind. She started her life long quest, as a entrepreneur in the field of art and beauty, around 5 years old by selling pages from her coloring book and "homemade perfume" (concocted with leaves, rose petals, and water from the hose, mixed together and "pressed" in her sand bucket). It was no surprise to anyone who knew her, when she went to beauty school immediately, upon High School graduation.
Sonya received her Cosmetology License in 1999 in Scottsdale, Arizona where she had the honor of working in several top-notch salons and spas, as well as serving as director of education for over 50 beauty boutique salons before moving to Illinois.
In 2013, she received her Bachelors in Fine Art with a concentration in Sculpture from SIUC. She is a published artist and first place winner of several juried exhibitions.
